I am having such a good time playing with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra this week in Stravinsky’s Pulcinella suite and in Julian Grant’s new harpsichord concerto, Vaudeville in Teal with an outstanding soloist, Mahan Esfahani . This is my first time working with conductor Anne Manson and what a refreshing leader she is! Demanding and engaging, yet always leaving clear room for everyone to play with their full spirit. SO nice to play Pulcinella with such a good group. And maybe my favourite new experience is having the wind section for the harpsichord concerto as bassoon and bass clarinet. My colleague Mélanie Bourassa is a joy to play with and what beautiful colours come from these two voices (bassoon and bass clarinet)… who knew! Concert is Wednesday, March 11 at the Crescent Centre in Winnipeg. Come if you can!

Mélanie Bourassa (bass clarinet), Julian Grant, composer of Vaudeville in Teal and one happy bassoonist.
