I was ELATED to see the proof copy of my new colouring book, COLOUR YOUR BASSOON! After getting quotes from companies across Ontario, I chose my local, one-woman (Cindy!) print shop in Parry Sound (MinuteMan). The print and paper quality is superb, and I will do an initial run of 100 to take on my April tour to the US. Interest seems high, so I may provide a pre-sale link for those who want to secure a copy. And I’ll also offer it as a perk for anyone who supports me on Patreon.
I have created 40 drawings of different characters playing the bassoon. When making the drawings, I sketched directly onto heavy watercolour paper (not the easiest surface to work on with ink pens and markers, but also rich and beautiful), then inked with fine pens (Copic Multiliner is my new favourite, which I bought at Blick’s in San Francisco when visiting my son at Christmas). Then I immediately scanned the drawings (forgot only once! had to do a second drawing) and then finished the art with Copic sketch markers. And I used India ink on three of them, and pencil crayon on a few. They are gorgeous, and they reflect mostly people from my imagination, along with some friends and colleagues who have won my attention.
I am working with my designer to create multi-media projections for my concerts at Tennessee Tech, University of Georgia and the Curtis Institute. I won’t be bringing the original art with me, because it is a whole other organizational project to mount an exhibition, but someday I will show all of the originals.
Meanwhile, if all goes according to plan, I hope to have a pre-sale link available soon, and ship in the first week of May.
UPDATE! Colour Your Bassoon colouring books are available to order now!
